Week 2 Waiver Adds and Stashes + Can the Jets compete without Rodgers?

Trents early reaction to achilles injury of Aaron Rodgers and analyzing the pressure on Zach Wilson, can the Jets compete?  We'll also share some hard-earned wisdom on when to drop a player and the parallels it holds to life's big decisions - marriage, home buying and, yes, closet spaces.

Could Tua Tagovailoa or Jordan Love be the game-changers for your team? Trent takes a deep dive into these questions and more as we reveal our favorite waiver pickups and streaming options for week two. We also spotlight promising running backs like Tyler Algier and Kenneth Gainwell.

This is the Fantasy Football.

Dudes podcast.

Speaker 2:

What is up, my dudes? This is Trent with the Fantasy Football Dudes podcast. I am going a little yolo solo, as they say. I did, thought I'd you know week one. Thought I'd maybe try something a little different here, maybe a little waiver podcast. I thought would be fun, just by myself. Something quick, something fast. You know I do this in the email, I do it on Twitter, but sometimes you guys just like me whispering into your ears. So here I am with the pod in a little surprise episode. Hope you all appreciate it. Remember, don't be rude. Share the dudes really helps us out, guys. So if you like this episode, share it with a friend. I know you're maybe saying like, hey, but if I share this episode I won't be the only guy getting last place in my league or whatever. Or maybe I'm the only guy winning in your league. The thing is, if you like this podcast, you need to share it with a friend because if we grow, that means we will continue making more stuff like the surprise episode right here. So Monday night football just ended. Aaron Rodgers looks like it's a Achilles injury, not a doctor. That's just what I'm reading on the old bluebird, or X, whatever you want to call it. So Aaron Rodgers out for season, zach Wilson time. Maybe they bring someone else in, I'm not sure. In the long run I I'm kind of curious to see what Zach Wilson's like now that he's kind of spent not a training camp with Aaron Rodgers. I will see. I don't expect that much improvement, but with this defense the jets can win games. The jets won tonight. They beat the bills. This was unbelievable punt return. It was ugly, but it was a win. And if Breece Hall can stay healthy, this team makes the playoffs. This is a very good football team. They just need Zach Wilson not to screw things up Garrett Wilson. He climbed the ladder without hands, practically like what a catch. So the jets upset the bills. Josh Allen did not have a very good game. He threw three picks. But jets defense very good, good enough to get them to the playoffs. They just need a little bit of quarterback play out of Zach Wilson. I said all off season I thought the jets would have made playoffs last year if Breece Hall doesn't get injured. Now they have the dolphins in that division also and that's a complete track team. Okay, so, uh, yeah, this whole pod. You know I was kind of thinking this past week, you know, I just uh, they say, get married, buy a house, start a family, you know, and then after a few years of marriage, you know, you finally find that house you want to buy and, as a young husband, this been a bigger closet. I was real excited about it. And the problem is is this bigger closet actually was smaller than the last closet I had? I thought it'd be a 50-50 split. It wasn't. I was pretty naive and I just, I don't know, after we moved I realized I had even less closet space than I did in my last closet and I didn't, couldn't figure out. Like, where should I put my Trelloans jersey, all my Cowboys stuff, my Ryan Matthews Fresno State Jersey? You know I have a decent amount of jerseys and it's. It's weird. You know you get married and you think you're going to get this. You know you think you're getting a bigger closet. When you move, your closet ends up being smaller even though it's bigger. It's a weird deal. All you single guys, you you probably don't understand. Okay, and I resisted this fight for a while. Okay, and eventually we just had to buy a dresser and that's where I keep all my clothes from high school that will fit me someday again. I promise I'm not throwing those shirts away, like that old Billabong shirt I have from 2007,. That Volcom shirt that my wife, you know, got rid of, apparently to the local shelter and you know, a month later it fit. Would have fit me. I think it would have fit me, you know. So like and where I'm going with all this is. This is waivers. We sometimes hold on to stuff too long. Sometimes we get rid of stuff too soon, like my wife got rid of my Volcom shirt and I love that green Volcom shirt. I had it since sophomore year of high school. But I think we all have those shirts that we just cannot get rid of, guys. And then sometimes they're gone and then you see a guy in a small town wearing the same shirt and you go. That's my shirt right there. Just like when you drop somebody to waivers after week one and all of a sudden you get beat by that guy that you dropped a couple weeks later because you dropped him too soon. Okay, I know, I'm sorry for you know the whole rant about closet space. You know how rough my life is. Like. Week one is coming, gone, it's time for our first round of waivers. Which players are we going to keep, which players are going to go to that sacred IR spot and which player are we finally going to cut Just so that they can come back and haunt us the rest of the season? Guys that get cut every year. You know a Cordero Patterson got cut a couple years ago. A guy in one of my leagues dropped George Kittle last year, like don't rage, drop If you have that IR spot. This year seems like there's a lot of injuries, don't know why, because it seems like guys don't even play in preseason anymore. We have guys missing week one. Mark Andrews missed week one, but tight end was a complete blood bath this week. But here we are. So I have my favorite waiver ads and I guess streaming options are all rostered below 67% on sleeper. And no, this intro was not inspired by that dry fit Dallas Cowboys t-shirt I wore Monday night. That kind of looks like a tight fit and guys, tight fits, that's an under armor thing. So it was a Nike shirt. So give me a break, get off my back, remember? Don't be rude. Share the dudes next. You know like, yeah, it's a tight shirt. If you want to look tight, go over to Manscape. Guys, the modern man's a man who takes care of himself. Manscape isn't just for life special occasions. It's a requirement for optimal health, superior hygiene and healthy self esteem. If you need man toiletries, man scape stuff, go to manscapecom. Promo code dudes 20 20% off your whole entire order. Really helps us out, guys. Also sleeper best place to play fancy football. I will not join a league that is not in sleeper, even though I got suckered into that terrible work league that's on ESPN. That's a long story. It's a weird league. It's even weird. That's an ESPN sleeper. Promo code dudes 100. They will match you up to $100. Guys, really helps us out. So here we go, jumping into the waiver, said I'd keep it quick, doing the best I can. Hopefully you got a little laughs, maybe a little chuckles. Who knows, to a tag of a Vova can't say that guy's name. I need to learn it. Not a good reader, even worse at hard names like that 67% rostered. Hey, tyreek Hill had a great game. But to also spread the ball, the seven different wide receivers tough matchup this week New England versus New England. But the dolphins are an absolute track team. If they can protect to a and keep them healthy, that division could be theirs. Okay, like to a was throwing absolute dimes out there. They don't call him the point pounder for nothing. This guy looked unbelievable To. A should not only be 67% rostered. There is so much speed on that team Pick to a up. He outplayed a lot of guys this week. Top five QB on the week. I'm not looking at the stats to see what he was for. The whole entire week he was up there. Tyreek Hill went off, like I said, but to a throws on the ball, he's got waddle, that's got. Get involved. This is a very talented offense. Can that offensive line protect to a and keep them healthy? I love to a this week. I don't love to this week. I love to. As a quarterback he needs to be rostered. Speaking of love, jordan love, 38% rostered tossed three touchdown passes. He's the new Packers starter and he didn't even have Christian Watson, his most experienced number one pass, pass catcher. I think loves just scratching the surface. Guys. Packers defense is good, which maybe hurts Jordan love. I think the Packers defense is good. Maybe Justin's fields isn't good, maybe the Bears aren't good, I don't know. I do know Jordan loves good, good matchup this week against the Falcons. Hopefully the Falcons can. You know. I think the Falcons can put up points. I'm a Falcons guy. Jordan love, 38% rostered. Pick them up. You can play him. I like him. He'll only get better with Watson. Next on the list I have Jared Goff, 20% rostered. Good matchup this week versus Seattle who just got carved up for 300 yards by a coupless Rams team. No Cooper Cup they got you know. They got Pukaed on. It's a great. It's a good matchup for Jared Goff. Lions I think are pretty good and guys like come on, you're not gonna not start Joe Burrow this week. You're not gonna not start Josh Allen, jaylen Hertz I know those guys had some bad games, but keep playing them. Okay, trust me. Jared Goff Next quarterback I got Sam Howe, 2% rostered. Had a rushing touchdown that really saved him this past week has an okay matchup versus the Broncos. This is more of a stash for me. I need to see a little bit more out of Sam Howe. I know he kind of got hyped up in the preseason. He has good weapons. I was kind of let down on how he did this past week against the Cardinals. I think Sam Howe will be just fine. He's a sneaky runner. Also, here's my Yolo ball in the quarterback position. Zach Wilson, only if you're feeling dangerous, only if it's a deep leg and only if it's super flexed. Probably this is just more of a hey if you got that extra. You know IR spot. Maybe Mark Andrews is on there, maybe someone else has hurt. Go ahead and just add Zach Wilson. If you got roster space, you don't have to keep them that long. It's just a wait and see. You know, just stash, stash the cash, all right, running back. So my quarterbacks I had two Jordan Love, jared Goff, sam Howe and then my Yolo play, zach Wilson, handing it off to the running backs. Tyler Algier is 46% rostered on a team that absolutely loves to run the football down their opponent's throat. Number one waiver wire of the week led the Falcons in rushing attempts and rushing yards played 56% of the snaps in week one. I do think Bijan is going to get better every week but, like Jordan said, both of these guys can get the ball and Arthur Smith loves running the ball. Tyler Algier, pick them up and play him. Next on the list I have Kenneth Gainwell, 6% rostered. Looks to be the starting running back for the Eagles. I know he didn't practice on Monday. I believe they're playing on Thursday night football. Looks like a short week. Kenneth Gainwell, pick them up. He had 14 carries this past week. Team that likes to run the football. Next on my list I have Kyron Williams, 6% rostered. Got the goal line work last week. Has Seattle had Seattle? Last week they got a tough matchup versus the 49ers. So I'm probably not playing him. But again, use that IR spot to your advantage. And speaking about advantages underdog dude's favorite place to play DFS. They got drafts. They have. You know they got some over unders, all that good stuff. Guys, inter promo code dudes. They will match up to $100. Week one was not good to your dudes was not good Monday night football. We were Garrett Wilson catch away from cash. Okay, aaron Rogers got hurt. Garrett Wilson, like I said, climb the ladder with no hands. Still, we need one more catch, garrett. So don't worry, we're not counting you out. I'm sure that receiving line, reception line will go a little lower. We'll take the over again. Mama didn't raise a quitter and grandma needs a new pair of shoes, so underdog promo code dudes, match up to $100 really helps us out. Fourth on the list, I have justice hill slash. Gus Edwards looks like a running back by committee to me. He'll got all the red goal. Line work last week could be a hot hand approach, not sure. Jk Dobbins sad to see him go out like this. Really liked watched him in Ohio State. Never felt like he could stay healthy in the league, always been really high on him. But just a sale, gus Edwards. They need to be rostered guys. So go ahead and add them and, If you're feeling lucky, play one of them. At the moment I don't know who it's going to be. Maybe as the week goes on, maybe by the time you hear this pod, we know hey, it is gonna be justice. Hey, it is gonna be Gus Edwards. So let's throw it over to the wide receivers. I am going to butcher this name. It is puka Nakua, I believe. Excuse me, is he the next Cooper cup or is this, like my closet, just a big tease? He had 15 targets week one and 10 receptions. Again tough matchup against the 49ers, but this should be one of the most popular waiver ads of the week, especially for those PPR in half PPR leagues. Give puka a shot, adam, maybe play him. We'll see. I kind of want to wait and see. Is Matthew Stafford back? You can also add Van Jefferson. He, not Van Jefferson. Do not add Van Jefferson. You know I belong in a van down by the river. Add to to at. Well, that's the guy we want to add. He's the other one. He's my number two on that Ramstein, but it looks like it's puka. Really good career at BYU Started off pretty hot. There was a lot of coach speak about how good this guy was in camp. Looks like the real deal so far. Now to another rookie. We have Ze flowers. Look great in week one, even though Lamar Jackson struggled. He had nine receptions for 70 plus yards. I just want to see how Ze can do when Mark Andrews is back, because at the moment we know Lamar loves Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews is really good, but Ze flowers did really good. Maybe they open each other up. I I still think Mark Andrews is number one there, but maybe Ze flowers is playable each week. None of the other receivers really scare me. Talking about Ze, here's our other Ze for Ze Jones. Did he surpass Christian cup? Is the number two in this offense? I'm not quite sure. I do believe that Trevor Lawrence will spread the ball around, though, and Calvin Ridley is really gonna open things up. Teams are going to have to concentrate on him. They might be a popular option around the red zone. Maybe he's touch the undependent. I don't know. Maybe this is a guy you can get without putting it a waiver. I'm not sure. I don't know how your league is. Maybe it's only a deep league ad. Ze Jones seems to be a guy that can find their red zone Are the end zone, so maybe this is the other way. So both Zays for you. Romeo dubs Seems like this guy's been on my list every single week. Last year he's on it again. He was starts the week. Last year. There was a lot of a lot, a lot of hype around Romeo dubs all Last offseason and even week to week with Aaron Rodgers. So Romeo dubs it's kind of like that shirt. I think it's gonna fit me next month. It doesn't still doesn't. Hopefully we get there soon. Romeo dubs Adam Maybe don't play him, let's see how he does. What's Christian Watson's back? But I think Romeo dubs is going to do good, all right. Finally, my last ads of the show. I got tight ends. Luke Musgrave, another packer, the cheese heads, athletic freak, fastest past catcher in Green Bay. Like I said on our last episode, there's a couple miss throws away by love from a huge day. Grab them while you can, because I think this guy's about to blow up. I know there's all the stuff about rookie tight ends. This guy had a really good game, not a really good fancy, he could have had a really good fancy game. There was a couple big plays that love just barely missed him, and I'm about barely missing things. Jake Bergeson the guy couldn't catch a cold in the rain on Sunday night football but Dak just kept targeting him. The catches eventually are going to come stash him. He might be really good in a couple of weeks. Maybe it's not yet, but let's wait and see. Dak loves tight ends, okay, so pick up Jake Ferguson. And hey, if you don't have a tight end, you're one of those guys that's like light round tight end and you just wanna find somebody you can pick up and plug and play. And I think if you just keep playing Jake Ferguson. Eventually you're gonna be really happy and he'll be really consistent. It's gonna take him maybe another week or two, but the volume is there. Dak loves the tight ends. This guy's more athletic than Dalton Schultz. Dak really likes him. Just I really like Ferguson. Next on my list I have Hunter Henry. He had a TD versus the Eagles. Mac Jones will have to keep airing it out this week If the Patriots want to get in the win column. Donald Parham had a touchdown against the Finns last week. Maybe this is a point of weakness that Mac Jones can pick on the Dolphins with Hunter Henry. So, hunter Henry, I believe you can play him this week also. Last on the list I have Donald Parham or Gerald Everett. I'm unsure which of these tight ends will get the touchdown this week versus the Titans, but I imagine one of them will. Just like I imagine my Letterman's jacket will fit me again. If you enjoyed this episode, remember to give us a rate and review. Remember, don't be rude. Share the dudes. Guys. Hope you enjoyed this.
