Today we got our draft episode and before we get into our draft episode, we're gonna recap the draft. But today's draft we are going taco bell items and these items can be on the menu. They could be a throwback or not even on the menu. So this will be a fun draft. So I am joined by Phil Jordan and Seth, as always. but before we get into this draft, let me recap the last draft we did. Last draft that we have is barbecue side draft And we had team one, which was me, had 10% of the votes. I had watermelon, pasta, salad chips and guac, actually felt pretty good about this draft going into it and I took last place And third place. we had team two, which was Phil. He had rice pilaf, bruschetta and coleslaw. It's pretty embarrassing. I lost to that draft board.
Speaker 2:Fourth, someone who doesn't listen to the pod, who just listened to the most recent draft, is like who took bruschetta. That guy's an idiot.
Speaker 3:This guy's not very cultured.
Speaker 2:I can tell you whoever you talk to, Whoever you sort of think goes, i love bruschetta, but he goes, do you go to barbecue thinking like bruschetta's gonna be there? I'm like no, i do absolutely.
Speaker 3:If you're at a seafood barbecue 100% also. The problem is.

Speaker 3:I actually agree with you, seth Bruchetta. jalapeno poppers and there was chips and guac should all be apps, i think. I don't think we should have been able to count those as sides. Were you the person who said that, or was it Jordan?
Speaker 2:I think it was Jordan was arguing that.
Speaker 1:Okay, and then in last play, our first place tied. we had 38% of the votes, both tied there. I guess I could go to Instagram and break the tie there, my drop is bad, sweet corn baked beans and grilled veggies. You know what? I don't have my phone to check it, phil go there and see.

Speaker 2:So start this puppy up, i feel like I, would be a fool not to take the classic crunchy taco, crunchy taco by itself, crunchy taco. Okay that's the most. That's the best thing I get when I go. I always get a crunchy taco. Regardless of the other things I get, i will at least get one crunchy taco.
Speaker 3:Okay, I could see you and now you explain it. I think it's gonna I don't think it's gonna perform well on the On the board but you're explaining it. No, no you explain your logic. Is there when people go, do you like I?

Speaker 1:So here's the deal. I saw this as a meme and I was like that's true. That's why it's a draft. Taco Bell is the one place I go to and I have no idea what I'm going to order. When I'm getting there In the drive-through, i decide at the window much new stuff always new stuff has a great value. What is it about? is it craving meal menu?

Speaker 1:that Yeah, but it's good cravings value menu I get something on that cravings value menu different every time I go, but I do have my go-to's. I get every time.
Speaker 5:I got to go to the crunchy taco is so you just like you're getting something.

Speaker 1:Yeah, i seriously am so mad I've never gotten anything beyond the meat, that'd be good like last place punishment You have to order, you have to eat all the beyond the meat things at. Taco Bell.

Speaker 1:I fail 99% of the time because I usually don't have all the ingredients only I've ever had this before Jordan man last time I went to Taco Bell I was with like it's a song, there's a drive-thru, but I go inside. I went with Phil and he sat by me on the.
Speaker 3:We both enjoyed one.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we both had a cheesy Gordita crunchy wrapped in cheese around a crunchy taco.
Speaker 5:It's too cheesy for me I'm not a big cheese guy. and then it has a good sauce in it.
Speaker 3:It says like, yeah, it has good sauce and for bonus tip.
Speaker 1:You know You're living a little bit on the risky side. Order the nachos and dip your cheese in it. That sounds good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, i don't want the mix in different cheese there. That nacho cheese is not that set, are you?
Speaker 1:kidding me. No, the nacho cheese at Taco Bell is really good, i know it's taking yeah.
Speaker 4:I'm not so.
Speaker 3:I feel like the cheesy Gordita crunch is probably the best Item on the menu.

Speaker 1:You know what I had? the last pick in the first round. No big deal. I'm going to improvise a little bit here. I'm not a huge soda guy but I sense. I think there's a lot of value in this.

It was almost like a panini burrito, right, you know you had that little like that press That sounds good.

Speaker 1:I mean Jordan. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, you know. They used to have those with the freedom.
Speaker 5:They did have those, the Fritos too in them.
Speaker 1:They maybe you might be. Have you never had one, jordan?

Speaker 1:I like chicken.
Speaker 3:I prefer chicken.
Speaker 5:I'll be honest, Those were always a little bit like you know. they were more money, more money, Like. I you know I don't know what to talk about. You know I would talk about all the time in high school Like, yeah, i was trying to get out of there under five bucks. you know, like the girl stuff brain didn't really fit the budget too much.
Speaker 3:No, you're right, You're right At the end of the, at the end of the week. If you had like a couple extra bucks or like I might swing this girl stuffed burrito. Anyhow, girls stuff burritos my choice. It's really so good And I really like it also because it never had lettuce. We also have a moment of silence for that thing being gone, and they're not bringing it back, like they're bringing Jordan's whack choice back, but they're not bringing it on.
Speaker 1:That's the problem. It's like they're bringing Jordan's, you know, frito surprise, but grilled stuff, burrito, you know, which is literally like on the Mount Rushmore of fast food.
Speaker 3:So Bill Pierce, chief marketing officer, maybe former given this statement, the fact that it's not on the menu anymore. Grilled stuff, burritos, are some of the most popular and portable menu items Taco Bell has to offer, but you take it off the menu. It's a crime. It's a crime against humanity. I don't know.
Speaker 2:I know there's love to see the R and D and talk and Taco Bell.
Speaker 3:Oh, that's got research and development of like these food, Jordan, Jordan. imagine the Bouch.

Speaker 3:I, i know Trent. I was talking to a friend, friend of the pod, actually related to all of you guys, and he said that Trent has one of the most legendary Taco Bell menu. Like he says, if he's going to, if he's going to Taco Bell with Trent, he expects magic to happen. Like he was hyping. and then I was like, trent, what do you do when you go to Taco Bell for order? He's like, ah, usually I just pick a handful of items. It's always different each time. I'm like, all right, a handful.
Speaker 2:I don't know what a handful means.
Speaker 3:You can imagine.
Speaker 1:I'm sure. Yeah, no, i got a couple like go-tos here, but that was okay, phil man, that kind of. There's another one that they need to bring back. I'm going to save it. Yeah, i'm going to go with the Chalupa, the Chalupa's good.

Speaker 1:I. There's no way I could live up to something that glorious. But no, chalupa has everything. And again we're talking about tortillas. Textures like what is that shell around that thing? The crunchiness, just a crunchy, magical surprise.
Speaker 3:You should go after the pod, do some. That's the R&D part of it, that might be an R&D part.
Speaker 1:You know that might be. Hey, we might take a producer or a videotape a little bit more.
Speaker 3:I think it's just slightly fried wrap. Do you prefer chicken or beef?
Speaker 1:I think I get the beef Like Taco Bell's beef is their best thing. I think, like you, always, I always go beef there.

Speaker 1:Those, those Doritos tacos are really good. They're really good. I that's what I actually did. I thought I that's fodder, i just throw that in the bag.
Speaker 2:It went volcano cool ranch and then the original Doritos. Yeah, so the volcano. When I got that every time, i loved it. I was sad in 2013, when I was in junior high, that they took that out.

Speaker 2:The thing about it when you get the cinnamon twists and they come in that tiny bag and there's like four in there.
Speaker 3:It is your bummed. But then you also, you tip the bag back and you get all like the crunchies and like the sugar inside after.
Speaker 5:I will say that was something that I really enjoyed as a kid, and the older I'm getting that. Yeah, the more I'm like.

Speaker 2:Now I just there's no need to know you don't feel the need to get it. Yeah, when you're a kid, you're a kid.

There's some easy, it's a cheesy refried beans, ground beef, cheddar cheese, nacho cheese and sour cream Me and Phil's brother. You see, you know, just take about three of these. You know all the time right there. But oh yeah five layer burrito is so good. Have you guys had that?
Speaker 5:Yeah, I think I had one. It used to be on the it used to be on the value menu. I don't think it is anymore, Oh, it's not anymore, huh.
Speaker 1:But yeah, that was like you know, it was like 85 cents for one of those and you could just like feed a village, You know, five bucks. It was amazing. Yeah, no five layer burrito right there to close out the draft. No one has anything to say about that. You don't think it was that good?
Speaker 3:No, the beefy five layer burrito is on there, but it's on the combo and it's five bucks, so it comes with a couple other items.
Speaker 5:So it's three bucks, three fifty, yeah, but five bucks.
Speaker 3:You can get the burrito chips and and cheese and a hardshell taco and a baja blast for five bucks.

Speaker 1:No, but here's the thing The cheesy roll up, it's like again, it's like a appetizer, Like you know. You could get your whole meal, eat the cheesy roll up before you get home and your wife's like oh, this is all the food.
Speaker 5:So I'm actually looking at their Triton, i'm looking at their like, their create your own box or whatever, and the cheesy roll up is considered a side. Yeah, it's tiny, it's tiny.
