Week 12: Thankful for Waivers

Week 12: Thankful for Waivers

Thanksgiving is a celebration that brings us all together. It is the perfect holiday. It has football, food, and family. But just like it is my job to get you waivers, it is also my job to point out the flaws of Thanksgiving. Lining up for dinner sometimes feels like hand-to-hand combat. As much as I hate waiver wire orders, maybe incorporating it for getting in line for food would be a good idea. Think if Thanksgiving was like this: the guy who brings Turkey gets in line first, and Uncle Frank, who brought a leftover store-bought pie from his work potluck, goes last. Unfortunately, this is not foolproof. Sometimes, you work really hard on a turkey, and it's dry; that also shouldn't be rewarded. This Thanksgiving, don't leave any meat on that waiver bone. We still have a lot of football left. Sorry, I am still upset about the killer bird I did last year and didn't get any macaroni and cheese because everyone got food while I was carving the turkey.

  • Below are all my favorite week 12 waiver wire options with roster percentages under 68% on Sleeper. Rankings are HPPR with the help of PFF before MNF. Teams on bye this week: none.

Quarterbacks

  1. Derek Carr (40%): The Saints made it clear that Carr is their guy. He has a big NFC South matchup this week vs. the Falcons. He is still in concussion protocol. Monitor the situation.

Long shots: Kind of like bringing a veggie tray to Turkey Day; it will work, but is anyone going to touch it? It's an awful week to stream QBs. Hopefully, you have better options. Bad week for Joe Burrow owners.

  • Jordan Love (47%), the Packers travel to Detroit. It could make your Thanksgiving more interesting. It also could make it miserable. At least there will be plenty of food to wash away the pain.

  • Russell Wilson (51%) takes on the Browns, a horrible matchup for opposing QBs besides Lamar Jackson in week 4. This Browns defense is special.

  • Will Levis vs Bryce Young?

  • Desmond Ridder vs. the Saints...

Running backs

  1. Zach Charbonnet (51%): We should all be thankful for running back touches this time of year. Has a tough divisional matchup this week vs. the 49ers.

  2. Ty Chandler (47%) split carries with Mattison on Sunday night football and was the more efficient runner. I hope he gets more opportunities.

  3. AJ Dillon (61%): this is like bread rolls at Thanksgiving. It's just fodder for your plate, but you will still eat it. You don't love it. It's just there. I can't believe I am saying this about a starting running back in November. But Dillon has been bad this season. Bread rolls are a massive upgrade for him, if I am being honest.

  4. If you're like me, you might be full on Thanksgiving, but does that mean you stop eating? I won't stop putting Keaton Mitchell on this list (61%). Keaton played a season-high snap percentage. He should be on your roster.

Wide Receiver

  1. Odell Beckham Jr. (41%) finally goes over 100 yards. OBJ is really getting into a rhythm with Lamar. Has scored double-digit points for 3 straight games. Beckham could benefit more with Mark Andrews out for the season.

  2. Tutu Atwell (25%) Cooper Kupp got injured Sunday; it sounds like a low ankle sprain. He did try to come back. Tutu put up some good numbers earlier this season without Kupp. Monitor the injury situation.

  3. Jayden Reed (43%) had a big game in Sunday's win vs. the Chargers. Hopefully, he goes in for seconds this Thursday vs. the Lions.

Long Shots (like your mother-in-law not complaining about the game being on during the parade).

  1. Khalil Shakir (21%) most of his yardage came on an 81-yard TD. Has a great matchup this week vs. the Eagles.

  2. Rondale Moore (26%): can it please finally be Ronnie Moore season? Caught his one pass for 72 yards and a TD.

Tight Ends

  1. Isaiah Likely (6%) Lamar loves targeting his TE. Last year Likely had 3 TDs on the season. This is likely the best replacement for Andrews.

  2. Pat Feiermuth (55%) had a rough game vs. Cleveland. The Browns are tough against opposing TEs. I will trot Pat out again this week as they take on the Bengals. Hopefully, Kenny Pickett can get his act together.

  3. Cade Otton(27%) led the Buccaneers in receiving yards this past week and almost made a great TD catch that would have boosted his numbers more—a decent spot for him this week vs. the Colts.
