20 Week 8 Waiver adds: A Fantasy Owner's Weekly Hope

20 Week 8 Waiver adds: A Fantasy Owner's Weekly Hope

Waiver day is a sacred occasion in the realm of fantasy football, eagerly anticipated by us week after week. It's like an estate sale for those seeking hidden gems to boost their late-season campaigns or finally letting go of that trusty but worn-out spare tire rattling in the trunk for far too long. Every Tuesday night, we go to bed hoping a potential game-changer will be added to our team.

This past morning, I was drinking coffee and decided to fine-tune my lineup. I decided it was time to bid farewell to Gus Edwards. In his place, I welcomed Royce Freeman, a gamble that did not pay off.

But let me confess, dropping Gus Edwards wasn't the most heart-wrenching part of my week. You see, I had been away on a work-related trip, managing my team from afar. It was during this remote stint that I had an epiphany: my beloved AirPod Pros were no longer nestled safely in their case. Panic set in as I realized they were stranded in a hotel room four hours away. Hilton Lost and Found told me no AirPods have been found yet. Even though I can pinpoint the location from my phone. 8th floor, room 118! So this week, I hope my AirPods show up, and more importantly, I hope to get Gus Edwards back. This is a reminder to always check who was dropped on your waiver wire. Just like yard sales, sometimes people let go of things too soon. So here's to getting better my Dudes, one waiver wire move at a time.

Below are all my favorite week 8 waiver wire options with roster percentages under 68% on Sleeper. Rankings are HPPR with the help of PFF before MNF

Quarterbacks:

  1. Gardner Minshew (13% rostered) had 4 total TDs this past week, dont see him repeating that performance. But you can't ignore what he did to one of the top defenses in the league.

  2. Russell Wilson (49% rostered) it is hard to believe, but he is QB8 on the season and will be in a shootout this week with the Chiefs.

  3. C.J. Stroud (68% rostered) got dropped in some leagues due to last week's bye. Takes on the #1 overall draft pick and the Panthers this week.

Stash

  1. Kyler Murray, they say he looks good and is taking things seriously. He could return in week 9, but most likely will be week 10.

Running Backs

  1. Chuba Hubbard (61% rostered) has a chance to lead the Panthers backfield this week vs the Texans. Miles Sanders is recovering from a shoulder injury. Those tend to linger for running backs.

  2. D'Onta Foreman (63% rostered) is filling in for the injured Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert. He is making the most of his situation. If he keeps this up, keeping him off the field will be hard. Still think this could be him taking advantage of a bad Raiders defense.

  3. Gus Edwards (57% rostered) had 14 out of the team's 18 handoffs but only played 50% of the snaps. I'm not super excited about this backfield; I'm just trying not to beat myself up for dropping him. Feels like a hot-hand approach will compete with Lamar Jackson's rushing ability. Justice Hill played the other 50% of the snaps.

  4. Joshua Kelley (23% rostered) has a good matchup this week vs. the Bears. Ekeler is still dealing with an ankle injury. Kelley Played 37% of the snaps this week. 7 carries for 75 yards. Seems to play better when Ekeler is in the lineup.

  5. Darrell Henderson (36% rostered), 18 rushes for 61 yards and a TD, was the first Ram to get a carry this past week. Has a tough matchup this week vs. Dallas.

  6. Emari Demercado (20% rostered) I doubt we can figure out who the RB1 will be for this team until James Conner returns.

Stashes/Hand Cuffs

  1. Tyjae Spears (50% rostered) played 2 fewer snaps than Derrick Henry last time the Titans suited up. He was 57% rostered last week.

  2. Jordan Mason (38% rostered) is a solid backup in case CMC gets injured more.

Wide Receivers

  1. Josh Downs (52% rostered) exploded this week. He has 3 straight double-digit games. If this was NBA Jam, he would be on fire, back-to-back games with a TD. Has a tough matchup this week vs. the Saints, but I am playing Downs.

  2. Kendrick Bourne (39% rostered) finally scored this past week. He is turning into a target hog in New England.

  3. Rashee Rice (66% rostered) is still touchdown-dependent but looks to be the #1 WR on the team behind Kelce, of course.

  4. Joshua Palmer (67% rostered) could be the fill-in everyone wanted Quentin Johnston to be. Career high in receiving yards vs. the Chiefs.

  5. Jameson Williams (64% rostered) had 6 targets, no catches, boom or bust at this point, but the talent is there. Should get more involved. Dont give up on him.

Tight Ends

  1. Dalton Kincaid (rostered 41%) led the Bills in targets and receiving yards in Sunday's loss vs. the Patriots. Dawson Knox is having wrist surgery. The first-round pick could finally be breaking out.

  2. Dalton Schultz (57% rostered) back-to-back games with TD grabs. Was on bye this past week. TE9 on the season. 25-point separation from TE9 and TE3.

  3. Taysom Hill (13% rostered) had his first touchdown coming on a goal-line rush. Taysom has an intriguing upside, being a TE that lines up under center. Caught 4 of 5 targets and had 5 carries for 18 yards. It's the second straight week on this list. TE 15 on the season. He was TE5 this week.
